Robyn Sue Gohsman

Robyn Sue Gohsman, 48, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2013. Robyn had been a resident of Williamsburg since 1997 when she, her son and husband relocated from Vassar, Mi.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert McKenzie. Robyn graduated from Mayville High School in Mayville, Mi., and went on to earn degrees from Delta College and Ferris State University. Robyn had been employed as the Special Projects Manager for the Chief Medical Officer at Riverside Health Systems since 2008, and held several health care related positions prior to her Riverside employment.
She loved her job and her fellow employees very much, and it was very evident to her family over the last few months that she was very much loved in return by the Riverside family. Riverside has formally recognized her contributions by establishing a Medical Assisting scholarship in Robyn's name.
Robyn was an active member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, with a special passion for local outreach activities and her Sunday school class. She was a shining example of one of the principles in the book of James – faith without works is dead. To quote a dear friend, she was an author, a teacher, a wonderful wife and mother, and a doer.
Robyn had an infectious smile and an innate way to connect with people, making them feel as if they had been friends since childhood. She had an indescribable, special relationship with her son, Travis. More than just mother and son, they were best friends. She was his closest confidant and his biggest fan in all aspects of his life.
She loved all the vacation time she was able to spend at the cottage at Sand Lake just outside Tawas, Mi., and Nags Head, N.C. Robyn is survived by her husband of 28 years, Terry Gohsman, son Travis Gohsman, mother Donna McKenzie and several brothers and sisters: Lois (Bill) Bushaw, William McKenzie, Jack (Robin) McKenzie and Tricia (Brian) Fowler.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at Williamsburg United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Local Outreach Committee and to the Riverside Healthcare Heroes Scholarship Fund in her name at Riverside Healthcare Heroes c/o Riverside Foundation, 608 Denbigh Blvd., Suite 700, Newport News, 23608.
