Thelma K. Viener passed away peacefully at her home in Williamsburg Oct. 4, 2012 at the age of 96. She had lived most of her life in Richmond. She was predeceased by her husband, Reuben Viener, who died in 1982.
A long-time member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA and a volunteer for 21 years at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, she also worked for countless other civic and charitable causes.
She is survived by her sons John David Viener and his wife, Karin, of Sailfish Point, Florida and Michael James Viener and his wife, Karen, of Stuart, Florida. Also her daughters Betsy Jo Spence and her husband, James, of Williamsburg, and Mary Ellen Viener of New York, N. Y.
Survivors also include four grandchildren, Justin Peck Viener and his wife Cynthia of Richmond, Va., Hardy McKay Viener of Austin, Texas, John D. Viener, Jr., of Los Angeles, California, Katherine Riordan and her husband Aidan of Needham, Massachusetts. She leaves six great-grandchildren, Adam and Daniel Viener and Abigail, Oliver, Jocelyn, and Hadley Riordan.
