Thomas Sidwell Mayberry

Thomas Sidwell Mayberry, 82, passed away December 2 at Williamsburg Landing.
Tom was born Feb 28, 1931 in Cookeville, Tennessee to Henry Eugene and Beatrice Maynard Mayberry.
A 1954 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Tom served as a US Army infantry and intelligence officer for 22 years before retiring in 1976 as a lieutenant colonel. Tom's assignments include two tours to Central America (Panama and El Salvador), a four-year assignment in Germany and one year in Vietnam. US assignments included Ft. Benning, where he met Sue Eskridge, the love of his life, Ft. Campbell, the DC area, Ft. Leavenworth, and Ft. Monroe.
Tom and Sue moved to Williamsburg in 1976, where he encouraged Sue to open Sue Mayberry Travel, Inc..
Tom was much beloved by his family and will be sorely missed. He is survived by Sue, his wife of 58 years, sons Tom (Susan) and Alan, and also five grandchildren: Rachel Knotts (Jeff), Lindsey, Kramer, Laura, and Allison.
Tom was a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2:00 pm at the Williamsburg Landing Building. Reception to follow. Interment will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to thank wholeheartedly the staff at Williamsburg Landing, especially those in the Special and Skilled Care units. The staff's love and attention towards Tom brought him a quality of comfort and care that is immeasurable and their love and concern for the family was, and remains boundless.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bruton Parish Episcopal Church or Williamsburg Landing Benevolent Fund.
