Velda Ann Ray Ruble

Velda Ann Ray Ruble, 63, of Rural Retreat, VA, devoted wife and mother died Friday, December 7, 2012. Ann was born in Ada, Oklahoma and lived in San Diego, Williamsburg and Rural Retreat. She was a graduate of James Blair High School and was previously employed at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and shared a love of reading, cooking and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Eva Ray, sisters Cheryl Ray Moody and Christina Ray, and brother Shelby Ray.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Randy, sons and daughters-in-law, Danny & Erin Ruble of Abingdon, David & Cat Ruble of Richmond, grandchildren Lillie, Ellie, Anne and Benjamin, and two brothers, Cloyce & Alan Ray. Ann was a member of the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church and a service of celebration of life will be held there on Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. The family would like to thank the staff of Wythe County Community Hospital for their kindness during this time. The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the RRUMC Quilters or Rural Retreat Rescue Squad. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat is handling the arrangements. (276-686-5112)
