William B. Rohn of Williamsburg, husband of Nanci Harding Rohn, died May 10, 2013 at home.
Mr. Rohn was born in Owensboro, Ky. on May 12, 1927, son of the late Ross W. Rohn and Frances Barber Rohn. He developed an interest in electronics in service in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
In 1951, he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and spent most of his career with the Bell Telephone Laboratories. Although initially engaged in military projects, he spent most of his career in the development of highly reliable computers for switching telephone voice and data calls.
Since his retirement in 1983, he and his wife lived for 15 years in Heritage Village in Connecticut where he was active in the bowling, bridge and garden clubs, and was president of the concert society. In 1998 they moved to Chambrel in Williamsburg.
Besides his wife, Mr. Rohn leaves two sons: William Lawrence Rohn and Stuart Douglas Rohn; a brother, Ross W. Rohn, Jr.; a sister, Frances Duranp; and three grandchildren.
