William John Watson Jr., 89, died December 21, 2012 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 21, 1923 in Woodbury, N.J. , he was the son of the late William John Watson Sr. and Blanche Cohill Watson. He graduated from Woodbury High School where he lettered in basketball, track and baseball. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scoutmaster. Over his lifetime he worked for Allied Chemical in Hopewell, D.W. Larson, and Leisure Time Distributors in Richmond. In retirement he worked and volunteered for Colonial Williamsburg. He was a Masonic Grand Master and a lifelong Episcopalian.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elisabeth Forney Watson and a son, Charles Edward Watson. He is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Betty Riedel-Watson and three sons, William John Watson III and his wife Sallie, Robert Forney Watson and his wife Lou Ann, and Christopher David Watson and his wife Maureen, as well as eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, VA, Friday, December 28 at 11:00 AM.
