Antoinette "Toni" Finn, 81, died at the Glen at Willow Valley Retirement Community on July 13 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael, after 56 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Amelia and Charles DiLeo of Allentown, Pa.|
Toni was born in Allentown on Nov. 20, 1931. A graduate of Allentown High School, she attended Penn State University for two years, then transferred to the inaugural class of a brand new five-year nursing program at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1954 with both RN and BS degrees. She joined Pan American World Airways in 1954 as a flight attendant during the glamour days of airline travel and was able to visit many of the great cities of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Toni married Michael Finn on Feb. 2, 1957, in the midst of a blizzard in Allentown. Toni and Michael resided in Westchester County, N.Y., raising three children in Bronxville, N.Y., where Toni was active in a number of community and school activities. Once her children were grown, Toni went to work as a school nurse/teacher at Yorktown Heights, N.Y., high school and retired to Williamsburg, before moving to Willow Valley community three years ago. She was an avid tennis player and golfer, enjoyed bridge and book club with her many friends and continued traveling worldwide with Michael. Toni was also a gourmet cook and loved to entertain family and friends.
In addition to Michael, Toni leaves behind her devoted family: daughter, Tracey, and her husband, Kent Vermillion, of Vienna; daughter, Alison, and her husband, Dr. Myles Davis, of Columbia, S.C.; and son, Christopher, and his wife, Peggy, of Ridgewood, N.J. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Connor, Brendan, Griffin, Colin, Donen and Molly.
The Finn family would like to acknowledge the fantastic and dedicated staff at the Glen, both first and second floors, where Toni resided for nearly two years as her condition progressed.
