Dorothy (Dottie) Louise Voss, 85, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013. Dottie was born Dec. 13, 1927 in Virginia, and lived the majority of her life in Maryland. She has lived in Williamsburg for the past six years.
The Guest Book is expired.
Dottie was pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur Howard Voss, to whom she was married for 53 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Williamsburg.
Dottie was a happy, smiling light to many, compassionate and caring. Friends remember her as an outgoing and interesting person who loved helping others.
She was a breast cancer survivor of twenty years, and in the past several years began a gradual, steady decline in health. Despite her health issues, she always kept a hopeful and bright outlook on life.
Dottie loved Italian food and wine, and used to joke that although she was orphaned early, she was certain there must be Italian relatives somewhere. She had many pets over the years, various cats, dogs and birds, and she loved each and every one of them dearly.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Maginnis (Walter), of Williamsburg, and Frances Yeary (Phillip), of Stephens City; granddaughters Kristin Jacobson (Gunnar), Heather Flanagan (Mark) and Yvonne Yeary; grandsons Walter E. Maginnis (Kathy) and Grant Yeary (Dena); and great-grandchildren Sean Maginnis, Morgan Guzman, Porter Lily Jacobson, Marina Yeary and Sofia Yeary. She is also survived by her extended family and friends.
Visitation hours will be 3-4 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, with funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
