Leo Martin Colson, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. He was born in Kane, Pa. He signed up for the Army Air Corps one month after the Pearl Harbor invasion and retired from the Army in 1971. He received an American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. After he retired from the military, he settled in Newport News. His favorite things to do were walking the neighborhood and talking to his many friends, working in the yard and fixing up old houses with his son.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Colson. He is survived by his two sons, Erik Colson and his wife, Nina, of Williamsburg and Ronnie Colson of Newport News; his daughter, Margit Colson of Newport News; his sisters, Elizabeth, Grace and Mary Colson, all of Pennsylvania; and his granddaughter, Jasmine Colson of Williamsburg.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
