Virginia Herb "Toni" Collingwood Obituary
Virginia Herb "Toni", Collingwood was born in Easton, PA, the daughter of the late Edith Kelly and John Willis Herb. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Loy Cotton Collingwood II, and their youngest daughter, Courtney Willis Collingwood.
She is survived by sister, Mary Lou McCahey, of Willoughby, OH; eldest son, Loy Hartman II "Chip", of Richmond, his wife, Elizabeth "Beth", and children, Ethan Cade and Camryn Ann; eldest daughter, Claudia Anne of Richmond, and son, J. Grayson Gunter; and youngest son, Allen Kirkpatrick II "Kirk", of Boerne, Texas, and wife, Kellie, and children, Drayton Loy, Carson Hartman and Anna Caroline Xiao.
Toni was raised in Kenilworth, IL, graduated from Chevy Chase Junior College, and settled in Chicago, IL. As a prominent member of Chicago society, Toni was extensively involved in community activities which supported local and national charities.
After marrying Loy and starting her family, they moved to Richmond, VA, where she raised her four children. In 1980, Toni and Loy retired to Williamsburg, VA, where she dedicated her time to tutoring children with reading-related learning disabilities. Toni was also recognized for her volunteer work at the 20th Century Gallery, and St. Bede Catholic Church.
Toni was a loving matriarch and role model to her six grandchildren, sharing her worldly knowledge and charming grace.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held Saturday, May 4th, 11am, St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, VA.
