WILLIAMSBURG - Surrounded by loving family the last two days of his life, David Edward Eybers peacefully passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the age of 90. The funeral service will be held at Hickory Neck Church at 10:30 on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Michael Delk will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral. David was born in Passaic, NJ on January 9, 1924 and grew up in Pearl River, NY. His family emigrated from Holland, making David a first generation American. He proudly served in the Army during World War II. David met the love of his life at a USO dance. He married Mary Pilley of Terra Ceia, NC on March 18, 1951. They resided in Montvale, NJ and retired to South Carolina. Later in life, they moved to West Point, VA to be near family. They were happily married for 62 years. David retired from John M. Hartel & Company after many years of service in Montvale, NJ. His avocation and other love of his life was music. He sang with the highly respected Pro Arte Chorale in New Jersey. In addition to many local concerts, he sang in venues such as New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice, Italy, and other European locations during his time with the Chorale. David is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Nancy Aschiero; and grandsons, Jason Aschiero (Alicia) and Adam Aschiero (Joe Bishop). David was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett Eybers and Gertrude Elizabeth van Slingerland; brothers, Albert, William, Gary, and Robert Eybers; and sister, Margaret Sallander.
