Frances Norton Honich Obituary
Frances Norton Honich, 74, of Williamsburg passed away on December 26, 2012 at home. A native of Guilford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Ethel Norton. She is survived by husband Nicholas Honich, son Philip Honich, and daughter Ellen Honich, all of Virginia; daughter and son-in- law Grace and William Durfee and two grandsons Samuel and Alexander Durfee, all of MA; two sisters Doris Horton and Jane Budd, both of CT and two nieces and seven nephews. She was a graduate of Guilford High School and the University of CT, where she majored in English. In the early years of raising her children, she was a preschool teacher and frequent volunteer in schools and at Hilton Presbyterian Church. She was a published author and poet and did several writing residencies throughout Virginia. Until she retired in 2008, she worked as a Historical Interpreter for the Jamestown/Yorktown Foundation. Retirement gave her time to pursue lifelong interests of reading, writing, cooking, hand-sewing and creating with fabric and paper. Writing letters and notes to family and friends gave her great joy and helped her spread what she termed her life mission: Creativity, Connection and Caring. A memorial service will be held in spring. Donations to PBS are welcome.
