John Stolz

Obituary Condolences

Join us in celebrating the life of a true individual.
A loving husband, nurturing father, and an adoring grandfather, John Stolz left us peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; their three children and their spouses: Diane and John O'Sullivan, John and Christine Stolz, and Kathy and John Jakob; and his eight grandchildren: Maeve, Emily, John, Thomas, Ailis, Brady, Erin and Darby.
A current resident of Williamsburg, VA, John was formerly from New York.
John was a devoted husband who was an example of someone living his marriage vows daily. Those who knew him best knew that "Grippo" loved his family, God, country, and making a little bit of trouble from time to time. You were always entertained by his no-nonsense nature and his mischievous humor, and he had no pretenses, agendas, or phoniness.
In his home you were assured a great meal and a well-crafted cocktail, or were lucky enough to go home with a unique birdhouse or fresh-baked loaf of bread. Whatever it was, it came from not only his hands but mostly from his heart.
John is also survived by his brothers and sister, Edward, George, Mary and Robert, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg. Burial will be at St. Charles' Cemetery on Long Island, N.Y. on a date to be determined.
