L. Thomas Ferguson, of Williamsburg, died at the age of 88 on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Born on March 1, 1925, he served in the Navy 1942-46, during which he served in the Philippines for three years.

He began his career with North West Airlines in 1945, he later worked for Allegheny Airlines in 1955 as a regional sales manager. In 1967 he became the President of Lake Central Airlines and in 1972 became the President of Mohawk Airlines which eventually merged into Allegheny Airlines. In 1974 Tom returned to Allegheny Airlines, now known as U.S. Airways, where he retired as a Senior Vice President.
For many years he was an active member of FISH, The Gideons, and The Salvation Army. As an active member in the United Methodist Church of Williamsburg, he founded the United Methodist Men's Breakfast Club and went on several mission trips.
Tom is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice Ferguson; two children: Robert Ferguson and daughter-in-law, Betty Anne; Craig Ferguson and daughter-in-law, Colleen; four grandchildren: Robert, Ian, Roberta and James; and eight great-grandchildren: Hunter, Logan, Alexis, Garrett, John, Patrick, Ava, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Eldon.
A visitation was held Monday, March 4 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. The service was held Tuesday, March 5 at Nelsen Funeral Home. Interment at Quantico National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
