Louise Easley Kelley, 70, passed away Feb. 5, 2013, peacefully at home with her family at her side.
After retiring from the Museum Division of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as manager of Carter's Grove Plantation and Bassett Hall, Louise started working as a volunteer with the Virginia Living Museum. She loved to work in the yard and was an active member of the Denbigh Plantation Garden Club for many years. She loved animals. She had been a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church since 1967, where she loved her extended family and was involved in numerous outreach activities, especially teaching the special needs children in Sunday school. She was also involved in National Disaster Relief Efforts through the Southern Baptist Convention and participated in hurricane relief in Texas and New England. Louise enjoyed traveling. She had visited Europe and recently returned to Yellowstone National Park for a visit. She was a great hostess and loved to have people in her home.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marie G. and James William Easley. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 50 years, Henry L. Kelley Sr.; daughter, Marie Kelley Owens (Patrick) of New Kent; sons, H. Leland Kelley Jr. of New Orleans, Billy Kelley (Susan) of Yorktown, and Ben J. Kelley of Petersburg; grandchildren, Sierra, Braden, Johnathon, Savannah, Carson, Alex, and Carly; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at Peninsula Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Taylor officiating. The committal will take place at Peninsula Memorial Park.
