Susan Mary (Owen) Nusbaum died at her home in Williamsburg on May 23, 2012, after a long illness. She was born in New York on July 26, 1929, to Susan (Books) and Clinton Owen. Her parents and brother Robert (Sally) Owen, preceded her in death. Stephen Nusbaum, Susan's husband, died in 1987.
The Guest Book is expired.
Susan worked in accounts receivable/payable at Nestle's for many years. She also worked in retail, first at Gimbels Department Store in Yonkers, N.Y., then finally at Bloomingdale's in White Plains, N.Y., both of which supported her love of fashion. Susan graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948 and lived in Yonkers and then Bedford, N.Y., before settling in Williamsburg. She loved animals, travel, good food, and fashion, but her favorite after she became ill was old movies!
Susan is survived by her four children: Robert (Janie) Nusbaum of Pond Eddy, N.Y., Laura (Jeffrey) Krack of Carmel, N.Y., Keith (Susan) Nusbaum of Katonah, N.Y., and Leslie (Leon) Notah of Bloomfield, N.M.; one sister, Ruth Narducci of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; and her "babies," Beth and Casey. Susan always raved about her many lovely neighbors in Williamsburg, where she became known as "quite a character." A gathering at her home is planned for Saturday, June 23, from 2 to 5. Friends are invited to take pictures to share and celebrate Susan's life.
