NEWPORT NEWS - Lucinda Susan "Cindy" Stenger, 60, passed away Tuesday, February, 25, 2014. Cindy was born in Chicago IL. and raised in LaVale, MD. She received her Associates Degree in Fine Arts from Brookdale Community College and her Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Design from Trenton State College, NJ. Cindy enjoyed arts and crafts and was a true lover of animals. She worked as a sales associate at Yankee Candle and was a member of Wellspring United Methodist Church. Proceeding her in death was her father Colonel Robert S. Zimmer, USAFR, Ph.D. Left to cherish her memory are her mother June E. Zimmer of Williamsburg, two sons; Daniel J Stenger and his wife Specialist Sydney E. Church, US Army of Wahiawa, HI; Staff Sergeant Benjamin R. Stenger, USAF of Honolulu, HI; a daughter, Laura A. Stenger New and her husband Alvin New, Jr. of Williamsburg; their father Major Terrance M. Stenger, USAF (Retired) of Gloucester, VA; and brother; W.R. "Chip" Zimmer Ph.D., sister- in-law Barbara J. Zimmer and niece Kaitlin M. Zimmer of Hagerstown, MD. She also left behind her loving dog Tacoda, and her two cats Shadow and Misty. A celebration of life will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 am.
