NORTHAMPTON - RENE D. KIROUAC Williamsburg, VA¿Rene D. Kirouac, 91 of 935 Capitol landing Rd., passed away Saturday March 22, 2014. Born August 22, 1922 in Berteaucourt les Dames, France he was the son of the late Arthur and Leonora (Ancelle) Kirouac. Rene was a World War II Veteran, serving with the French Army and was a P.O.W. After the war he and his wife immigrated to Northampton in 1948. He was the shop foreman at Hampshire Paper Box in Florence for many years and later retired from Kitchens by Herzenberg. He was a longtime Communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church, now St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Church. He enjoyed woodworking, road trips and ballroom dancing. In 1998 Rene and his wife moved to Williamsburg, VA to be with their son and his family. His wife, Fernande "Fern" (Lahutte) Kirouac passed away in 2010. He is survived by his son John Kirouac and his wife Helen of Williamsburg, VA, his brothers Michel Kirouac of Northampton and Guy Kirouac of Leeds and several nieces and nephews. John and Helen would especially like to thank the staff of Spring Arbor Williamsburg and Hospice Community Care for their compassionate and dignified treatment of Rene. Rene's Funeral will be Friday morning 9 a.m. from the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Church, 99 King St., Northampton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling Hours are Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
