Jeanette "Jean" Stout, 84, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 30, 2013, at Woodhaven Hall in Williamsburg Landing after a battle with Alzheimer's disease and pneumonia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sarah Bell. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John H. Stout; son, Jeffrey Stout; daughter, Lisa Anderson (James); and grandson, Kevin Bonfils (Tara).

She was born in Detroit, Mich., and lived her early life in Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated from Ohio State University. She taught school in Arlington and Columbus. A former resident of Schenectady, N.Y., Erie, Pa., Cleveland, Ohio, and Rockville, Md., Jean moved to Williamsburg in 1991.
An avid reader and bridge player, she also enjoyed playing the organ and loved to travel, especially taking cruises to the Caribbean and European rivers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, with burial in Williamsburg Memorial Park at a later date.
