Antero P. Trevino 86, of Harlingen entered into rest Monday, May 13, 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Eva U. Trevino of Harlingen; his son, Jerry (Celeste) Trevino; 2 grandchildren, Aaron and Clarisa all of Corpus Christi; a sister, Irene Hudson of Houston; 2 brothers, Joaquin Trevino of Florida and Jose Amado Trevino of San Benito.
He was born on January 4, 1927 to Amado and Elvira Trevino in Weslaco, Texas. After losing his mother at an early age Antero moved to El Asadon Ranch near Sebastian to live with his relatives, the Solis family and later with Tio Neto and Tia Conce Carreon. He enlisted in the US Army and Navy and proudly served during WW II.
After serving in the military he continued his education and obtained both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Texas A&I University, which was rare for a Hispanic during the 1950's.
He began his career as a school teacher in Los Indios; he then became a visiting teacher for at risk students and retired as a Special Education Counselor for Harlingen CISD
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 10am to 9pm and a holy rosary will be held at 7pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 16, 2013 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30am for a 10am Communion service at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post #205
