WESLACO, TX. -- Thomas Kuruda, 63, passed away to join the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his residence in Weslaco. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on October 12, 1949. He proudly served in the United States Navy
Reserves and attended Indiana University-Purdue University
. Up until his retirement, he devotedly worked at GTE (later Verizon) as an engineer for many years where his hard work and talent was recognized through numerous awards. Tom was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast who valued education and enjoyed a variety of hobbies ranging from collecting knives to designing houses to writing. He was a man who unconditionally loved, cared, and supported his daughter. Not only was he a dearly beloved father, but a greatly beloved brother, uncle and friend who will be missed immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August M. and Clara (Ritter) Kuruda. He is survived by his daughter, Katlyn J. Kuruda of Weslaco; and his brothers, August T. (Yevonne) Kuruda of Aurora, IL and Dennis M. (Paula Marie) Kuruda of Auburn, IN.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Chris O'Loughlin, Pastor of Cowboy Church of the Valley.
