HARLINGEN,TX.-
Henry W. Huetten died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. He had been suffering failing health this past year.
Henry was born September 16, 1924 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, son of Henry Huetten, Sr., and Alice (MCQuestion) Huetten. He lived his life in Wisconsin until 1981 when he retired and spent the rest of his life between Kenosha, WI and Harlingen, TX and was privileged to live in Sunshine Country Club Estates for 29 years.
He was educated in the Kenosha school system and graduated from the University of Wisconsin after his service in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He served with the Eighth Air Force as a tail gunner on a B-24 bomber and was stationed in Bungay, England. On January 1, 1945 on his tenth mission, his plane was shot down over France. He bailed out and landed behind the lines in the trees. He was rescued by the Free French and was escorted back to his group. He was a member of the Caterpillar Club for saving his life by parachute. He went on to fly 30 missions.
After the war he finished college at the University of Wisconsin and became a teacher. He taught ten years in Darlington, WI teaching history and coaching the debate team at Darlington High School. IN 1961-63 he attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and received his second degree. He then taught English at Mary O Bradford HS and Tremper HS in Kenosha, WI. He retired in 1981.
Henry enjoyed his life's work, enjoyed his students, and was very proud that one of his students became a published author. He was always interested in politics and loved to start a rousing discussion. He was a good fisherman, and he especially enjoyed his 3 trips to Yellowstone Park to fly fish for trout along wit his wife and son and numbers of friends who joined them. He loved meeting new people and was interested in their lives and interest. He love to travel, consents to get in an airplane again, and made ten trips to Europe for pleasure this time. He was a Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packets fan.
Henry was married to Helen Kozakowski on September 4, 1948. IN 1962 he met his wife of 47 years, Linda (Gripp) Huetten when she came to Kenosha to teach. They were married in 1963 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI and have a son Mark Henry Huetten.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Henry W. Huetten, Sr. and Alice (McQuestion) Huetten; his sister Eileen Huetten, his wife Helen (Kozakowski) Huetten and grandson Michael Blair Huetten.
He is survived by his son Mark and wife Bonnie Excelsior Springs, MO, granddaughter, Emily Morgan Huetten and grandson Alexander Blair Huetten, sister Lois Jean White and brother-in-law Robert White, Sun City West, AZ, niece Catherine White, Kenosha, WI and nephew Joseph White.
Services will be held on Thursday April 28 at 2pm at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1015 E. Van Buren, Harlingen.
Memorials are being directed to the local Salvation Army.
Henry was loved by his family and his many friends. He will be missed.

Linda, sorry for the belated response. I truly enjoyed knowing Henry over the 47 (wow) years. I still remember Mark hiding the car keys at the reunion when he was about 2. Hope you continue to come to TX or stay full time. You are always welcome to come visit us in Austin.
