Hilario Fonseca Obituary

"Lalo" Fonseca
Hilario "Lalo" Fonseca, 85, was welcomed to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was born on January 14, 1928 to Fabian and Guadalupe Fonseca.
Lalo Fonseca grew up in Lyford, TX and resided in Willacy County throughout life. At a young age, he joined the Navy. After his years of service, he married his beloved wife Olivia and had a family of three wonderful daughters. Lalo worked his way up from various positions including janitor, butcher, and finally funeral director. He leaves behind a legacy of his trade and service through Good Shepherd Funeral Home, which he still worked at, with his Grandson, Michael. He loved his job, which he last enjoyed on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, but most of all he loved the people he served.
Lalo had many friends and there are many stories to be shared about the times he spent with family and friends hunting, fishing, barbequing, wrestling, and just spending time together. One of his favorite things to do was cook for his family; his family will sorely miss the daily breakfasts together and the dishes he prepared with love. Lalo was respected, had a servant heart, and was truly one of a kind. He is so very much loved and will be dearly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Brother Guadalupe "Lupe" Fonseca, and Sister Viola Flores, precede him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Olivia Fonseca; three daughters, Ida (Ralph) Cruz, of Raymondville, TX, Irma (Jesse) Gonzalez, of Kingsville, TX, and Ilene (Darrell) Nyquist, of Raymondville, TX; sister, Tina (Eliseo) Cortinas; grandchildren, Andrea Cruz, Michael (Maribel) Wetegrove, Laura (Clint) Smith, Veronica (James) Payne, Jesse Gonzalez, III, Philip Nyquist, and Adam Nyquist; great grandchildren: Joseph, Mia, Ella, and Allie Wetegrove, Dylan and Abigail Smith, Emma Gonzalez and Carrli Hagler and Jayden Quiroga and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private visitation for family was held Thursday, April 18, 2013.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 19, 2013 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a holy rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, Texas 78580.
A funeral mass to celebrate Lalo's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 10:00 am, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 464 S. First St., Raymondville, TX 78580. Officiating the mass and burial services will be family friend, Father Richard McDonald.
A funeral procession led by the Patriot Guard Riders will lead us to Lalo's final place of rest in the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery where a military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post #390 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #6719.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jesse Gonzalez, Jr., Michael Wetegrove, Jesse Gonzalez, III, Philip Nyquist, Adam Nyquist, and Joseph Wetegrove.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
