Robert Olmos, 63, went to heaven on February 7, 2013. He was raised in Harlingen, TX and was a longtime resident of Salinas, CA. He spent his last months in Buda, TX with his family.
He served his country as a proud Sailor for the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran. One of his best accomplishments was the opening of his own business in Salinas, CA. He then found his calling when he chose to enrich the lives of children as an elementary school teacher for many years.
He is well remembered for always having a smile on his face, always wanting to "joke around," and always being friendly to everyone wherever he went. He had a great passion for God, and served as an illustrious part of his community church.
He loved his family very much, and was always willing to give a helping hand to whoever needed it. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his wife Shery Olmos of 25 years in 2002. He is also preceded in death by his father, Roberto Olmos, Sr., his sisters, Carmen Torres and Magdalena Rodriguez.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angelique and Jason Silva, son, Brandon Olmos, his grandchildren, Jacob, Jette, Jade, and Shery. He is also survived by his mother, Josefina Olmos, his brother Joe (Maricela) Olmos, his sisters Guillermina (Romero) Ramon, Delia Pesina, Rosalinda (Noe) Trevino, Ester Cerrillo, Elizabeth (William) Makarski, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces.
Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Hall, 504 American Legion Dr., Harlingen, TX 78550.
