SANTA ROSA, TX. -
Ruben P. Garza 70, of McAllen (formerly of Santa Rosa) entered into rest February 4, 2014. He was born in Santa Rosa, Texas on January 16, 1944 to Manuel and Rosaura Garza.
During his lifetime Ruben was the Program Director at MHMR, a Disabilities Counselor at The University of Texas-Pan American-Edin-burg and South Texas College. He was currently substituting as a Special Ed teacher for the Mission-La Jolla School Districts.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Beatrice Gonzalez, Juan Garza, Roberto Garza and Maria Flores.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Lupita Garza of McAllen/Santa Rosa, daughter, Cyndi Garza-Lopez of Grand Prairie, TX, ; son, Richard (Letty) Garza and a granddaughter, Taylor Renee Garza. He is also survived by his brother, Manuel Garza, Jr., sisters, Elodia Saldivar, Felipa Hernandez, Dora Lopez, Teresa Juarez, Amalia Vela, Juanita Cavazos, Annie Martinez and Sulema Lumbrera.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 10am to 9pm and a holy rosary will be prayed at 7pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 9:30am at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with Deacon Reyes officiating and interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post #205.
