LA FERIA, TX. -Joseph J. Korinke 77, of La Feria, formerly of Rockford, IL. & Beloit, WI, passed away February 3, 2008 due to a long battle with cancer and many complications.
Joseph was born in Greene, Iowa on February 16, 1930 to Joseph and Edith (Levine) Korinke; he attended Catholic grade school and high school in Greene, Iowa.
Joseph enlisted in the military and proudly served his country for 3 years in the United States Air Force. He worked for 13 1/2 years at Quaker Oats Co. in Rockford, IL. and 24 1/2 years as a pipefitter for Chrysler Corp. in Belvider, IL. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1990.
Joseph and his wife Sandra (Sandy) moved to South Texas where they have enjoyed the last 17 years. Joseph loved model trains, shooting pool, bowling and the ocean and beach and most of all his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Edith Korinke, sister; Mary Gillette, 3 brothers; Jim Korinke, Jack Korinke and Don Korinke.
Survivors include his loving wife; Sandy Korinke, 3 sons; Douglas (Marie) Korinke of Florida, Dennis (Denise) Korinke of CA., Dallas Korinke of Texas and a daughter; Diane (John) Rogus of Texas and step-daughter; Jamie Bone of Texas. He is also survived by his sisters; Ann Fisher of Iowa, Shirley (George) Anderson of WA. And brother; Robert (Tina) Korinke; numerous grand-children and great-grand-children.
Joseph wished to be cremated and his ashes to be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico for his last swim.
A Memorial service will be held in the Spring at the American Legion in Rocton, IL.
