LOS FRESNOS, TX.-
Richard Leroy Kretz was born on August 29, 1937 to Winona and William Kretz. He was called to join the Lord in Heaven on June 30, 2013.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Los Fresnos, Texas and was a graduate of Los Fresnos High School where he was a member of FFA, played football and was voted ``Most Handsome.'
After high school, Richard served in the Army for 2 years where his love of flying began. He met and married the ``love of his life' Rachel Correa Kretz, with whom he was married to for over 44 years. Together they raised 3 wonderful sons, who all served as altar boys for St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Richard loved fishing, bird watching, flying and spending time with his family. He was a loyal employee of Pederson Construction for over 20 years where he was a bladesman. During his lifetime, Richard was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus of Harlingen. Richard was a loving father, devoted husband and loveable grandfather. He was liked by everyone and leaves behind many friends.
Richard Kretz was preceded in death by his parents William and Winona Kretz, sisters: Edna Baker, Eileen Watson, Betty Bourg and Ruth Kretz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Correa Kretz, three sons: Ronald Leroy (Clare), Richard Douglas (Chris) and Randy William (Irene); 1 grandson, 7 granddaughters and 1 great grandchild. Also surviving him is his twin brother, Donald (Trudy), brother, Raymond (Tita), sisters: Annetta Hopkins and Ann Louise Simmons (Robert).
Visitation will be held today from 1:00 to 9:00 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00pm at Henry Thomae Funeral Home 701 N. Bowie San Benito 399-9992
Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Los Fresnos, Texas with military honors.
