Radies, Charlene Patricia
RADIES, Charlene Patricia (Hughes) . It is with great sadness we announce Charlene's passing. She passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at her home in Tsawwassen, BC, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Bruce Hughes, her two children Nahanni and Quinn Lattimer, and stepchildren Jordan and Leah Hughes. Also, parents Ernie and Gail Radies, brothers Douglas (Yuan) and David (Deb), two nieces Rose and An, nephews Silas, Orion and Clay, Uncle Denis (Pat) and many cousins. She also leaves behind many wonderful, loyal friends. Charlene was born in Vancouver, BC, July 28, 1961. She was a force of nature and her free spirit and loving heart touched so many people. She had boundless creative energy, loved to entertain and was talented in so many ways. She was adventurous and a seasoned traveler. In her 20's she learned to sail in Hawaii, then later, after a trip to Spain, she crewed on a 72' sailboat, crossing the Atlantic from Majorca to Antigua. In her 30's, she introduced her young family to camping and the love of nature. Over the past decade, Charlene and Bruce traveled to many destinations worldwide, including a wonderful summer in Southern France where the whole family enjoyed hiking, biking and sightseeing. They also enjoyed their quiet times in the Turks and Caicos, where they were married. However, her favourite place of all was their beloved cabin at Point Roberts, where she would practice yoga, swim in the ocean, take long walks to Lily Point at low tide, and spend quality time with friends and family. Charlene loved life and was truly grateful for the many experiences and opportunities she had and shared with others. She will be dearly missed. Our family would like to thank the many people who cared for Charlene: Sanjay, Tanya, Dr. Lobb, Dr's and nurses at Delta Hospital Emergency Dept, Palliative Care and Homecare. A Celebration of Charlene's life will be held on Friday, March 20th, at the Beach Grove Golf Club, Tsawwassen, from 2pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Callanish Society would be greatly appreciated.
