Barber, Arthur Kendall  
BARBER, Arthur Kendall Arthur Kendall Barber, better known as Ken, passed away peacefully at the North Shore Hospice on July 19th, 2015. Ken was born on May 29, 1931 in Frankville, Ontario to his parents, Rena and Arthur Barber. Ken helped with the family farm until he met his former spouse, Kathleen Driver. Ken and Kay married in July 1954 and shortly after, moved to Kingston, Ontario where they began raising their family: daughter, Katherine Barber (Pettigrew-Steven) and son, Kelly Barber (Patricia). Ken began his long career with Retail Credit and in l969 relocated with the company to North Vancouver. He retired from Employment Canada in 1994. Ken's passion for activities included hiking, skiing, cycling, skating and numerous other interests that embraced his insatiable love for the outdoors. In his later years, Ken dedicated many volunteer hours to the Salvation Army. Strong friendships were developed from the many years of being closely involved with this organization. No service by request. Ken's remains will be interned at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, attention: Palliative Care/North Shore Hospice. Thank you to Dr. Annette McCall and the wonderful nurses for their support during this time.

BROWN, David W. - "Brownie" February 14, 1953 - July 19, 2015 . It is with sorrow that the Brown and Baird family announce the recent sudden passing of Brownie. . A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 26th at the Tsawwassen First Nation Recreation Centre, 1929 Tsawwassen Drive, Tsawwassen, BC at 11 am with a luncheon to follow.

Bezdeck, Anna  
BEZDECK, Anna April 22, 1920 - July 18, 2015 . Anna Bezdeck (nee Grossmann) age 95 passed away peacefully at the Cedar Hills Extended Care Facility on July 18, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in Dec. 1995. Anna was born in a little village Senftleben in Czechslovakia where she married Joseph. They moved to Sindelfingen, Germany in 1946. Joseph, Anna and Herbert came to Canada in 1951 and settled initially in Langley before starting to farm on 248th a year later. She is survived by Herbert, his wife Eileen, grandchildren Robyn and Joe, great grandchildren Lauryn, Katelyn, Koa and Alex, and loving nieces, nephews and their families. Special thanks to the staff at Cedar Hills Facility for their excellent care. A Funeral Mass Monday July 27 at 11:00 AM Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church 2827 - 273 St. Aldergrove, Burial to follow Langley Lawn Cemetery. Reception will be held Newlands Golf & Country Club at 1:00 pm. BUTLER, Maurice  
BUTLER, Maurice (Crusoe) . May 18th, 1922 – July 16th, 2015 . Maurice died peacefully in his sleep after an exciting and active life. At the age of 16 he went to sea as a Midshipman in the British Merchant Navy. During the Second World War, he served as navigating officer in the Atlantic and Middle East. Later he became a tea planter in Ceylon. After Ceylon's independence he moved to South Africa as an import – export merchant and later settled in the Channel Isles and then in the south of England where he worked in the wine industry. In 1966, he and his family settled in Vancouver where he had a long and successful career as a realtor, culminating in the position of President of the Real Estate Board. . Sadly missed by Jo his wife of 63 years and children Robin (Hilary), Glenn (Margot) and Lynne; grandchildren Clive, Margaret, Nick and Cori and three great-grandchildren, also his youngest sister Margaret (Bryan) together with many nieces and nephews in England. . Many thanks to all at West Shore Laylum for their loving care. Donations may be made to West Shore at 4900 Central Avenue, Delta, BC V4K 2G7. .
