Born in the village of Hunzenschwil, Switzerland. Died in North Vancouver, B.C. at the age of almost 91 years.
Predeceased by her husband Edward Arthur Barker (1996) and by her brother Theodore Wildi (Quebec, 2010). She will be greatly missed by son Greg Barker (Nanaimo), and daughters Susan Demski (Vancouver), Nancy Bellamy (Kelowna), and Deborah Barker (North Vancouver), as well as twin sister Freda Lindsay (London, Ontario) and brother Karl Wildi (Toronto).
As per Hedi's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Cremation has occurred and her ashes will be scattered up Hollyburn Mountain, where she spent many memorable days during her courtship skiing with Ed and his friends who co-owned a cabin known as "'Shiverless (K)nights".
Many thanks to Dr. Susan Chow and the staff at the Lynn Valley Care Centre for their excellent and compassionate care. Flowers to Hedi's family or donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Hedi's memory would be much appreciated as expressions of condolence.
