Zarko was born and raised in Yugoslavia, where he earned his geological engineering degree - enabling him to pursue his dream of working at Sullivan Mine. In 1969 he moved his family to Canada and made his dream a reality. As his career developed, he travelled the world and eventually settled his family in Vancouver. Zarko leaves behind his wife Zlata of 48 years and his family: Ivana, Glenn, Nicolas, Matthew, Petar, Jasmin, Nebojsa, Donna, Anka, Mina and many friends and colleagues. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner, who made him comfortable during his time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Irene Thomas Hospice.
