Kay was granted her angel wings on January 17th, 2013. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Kay touched the lives of everyone she met and was considered a grandma to all, not just to those related to her.

Born in Nanaimo, BC, Kay is survived by siblings, George, Jerry, Lucille, and her twin sister Ada.

Kay moved to Vancouver where she worked as a riveter in a North Vancouver shipyard during the war effort of the 1940s, before meeting Hans - her loving husband of almost 62 years - and starting her family. She is dearly missed by children David (Michelle), Marlene, Sandra (David), Phillip (Caroline), Grant, Kathryn (Lorne), and Chris (Judy). Granny Kay will always remain in the hearts of her 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Kay had a real zest for life. She loved socializing and had a genuine interest in learning about others. Everyone who met Kay loved her. She had a positive, empathetic spirit that people were drawn to. A true 'girly' girl, she had a fondness for leopard print, the colour pink and glitzy jewellery. Her most prized possession was her family, who she loved, cared for, and taught many valuable life lessons.

A special thanks to Dr. Ken Miki for providing our mother and grandma with care over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26th, at 1pm, at Connaught Heights Assembly (2201 - 8th Avenue, New Westminster). Please feel free to wear pink, leopard print or a brooch, in honour of Kay.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Union Gospel Mission.
