After retirement, Les continued an active life volunteering at Science World (9000 hours!), Friends of Interurban 1223 (Burnaby Historical Society), Burnaby Beautification and Burnaby Wildlife Committees, Summer Games, and Police and Fireman Games. He enjoyed collecting postage stamps, travelling (especially cruises), plugging the slots at casinos, playing cards, working in the garden, watching the BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks and being with his family and friends. Les was a member of the Burnaby Gyro Club for 65 years and an honourary member of the BC Water and Waste Association, serving as historian, organizer, presenter and was the recipient of many BCWWA awards.

His children and grandchildren have been blessed by his dedicated work ethic and special love. He faced life with acceptance and had a smile for everyone!
