May 2, 1924 - December 14, 2012
After a long, full life of 88 years, Alfred passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jacqueline, his three children Kathleen (Paul), Daniel (Venay), Christine (Murray), his eight granddaughters Katie, Melissa, Celina, Paige, Gaby, Regan, Carly, Alex, and his great grandson Nevaran.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Toni (Godfrey - deceased), several nieces and nephews and their families.
Alfred served in the RCAF from 1943-1946. While overseas he met his loving wife Jacqueline. Upon his return home from the war, he attended UBC after which he had a career in sales and publishing. After retirement, Alfred and Jacqueline traveled widely.
Some of his happiest times were when he was sailing or tending his sailboat Mistral. He expressed his creativity through art and design, including designing jewelry for his wife and daughters for special occasions. He spent many hours sketching, exploring local landscapes, and reading about the early history of the BC coast.
The family wishes to thank Minoru Residence for their constant, thoughtful care of Alfred over the past year.
Above all, he enjoyed the love of his family. A true gentleman, he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
