Barbara Hunter Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Feb. 5 to Feb. 7, 2013.
HUNTER, Barbara Irene (nee Bishop)
November 9th, 1919 - January 31st, 2013
Gramma Barbie, as she was affectionately known by many, passed away on January 31 in her 94th year knowing just how deeply she was loved. She died with the same strength and grace with which she lived. A beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother-in-law, Aunt and dear friend to many. She was a constant and loving presence in our lives and she leaves behind an everlasting legacy. She has gone on to be with her precious daughter Jill, her beloved husband Kevin and the many loved ones who went before her. She is survived by and will be sorely missed by son Rob and daughter-in-law Donna, brother Harry (Connie) and sister Joan, granddaughters Cara, Robyn, Dayna, Brandee, and Shannon, son-in-law Ray (Sada), great-grandchildren Nicholas, Riley, Hadley, Hunter, Matthew, Spencer, and soon-to- be Baby Robertson, much-loved grandsons-in-law David, Brad, Sean, and Steve and many beloved nieces and nephews. Barb was a loyal friend and an inspiration to us all. She is now where she was meant to be, alongside Jill and Kev, planting beautiful flower boxes, baking and decorating delicious cookies, wrapping the loveliest presents and watching the sunset on Gabriola waiting for the tide to be just right for their evening swim. A service will be held this Saturday, February 9th at St. Mary's Kerrisdale 2490 West 37th Ave. at 10:00am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, gather your loved-ones close over a double-batch of rum slush and raise a glass to Barb. One of the finest women we'll ever know. Forever missed, always remembered, deeply loved.

Very sad to hear of Auntie Barbs passing. My father, Les was Barb's older brother. I remember coming up for Barb and Kevin's 50th anniversary celebration. My condolences to the family.

Dear Hunter Familly, So sorry to learn of your loss. I fondly remember 'Auntie Barb' and 'Uncle Kev' when I was growing up on Gabriola - wonderful people I was honoured to know.
