JONES, David "Rees"
Peacefully passed away on November 13, 2012 having survived against long odds on many occasions, he finally succumbed at the age of 84. Rees' career with the Vancouver Fire Department spanned 36 years and retired a Captain in 1986. Rees was predeceased by his siblings Martin, Phylip, Lewis and his sister Maira Jones. Rees is survived by his siblings William, Rena Verlaan, and Eira Dodman. He is survived by his two children, William and Charlene, (mother Agnes Nixdorf) and by his three step-children, Shelley (Lyall), Leigh (Ahola), and Mark Jackson, (mother Kay Jones). He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. As a reflection of life lived to the full and then some he will be missed immensely by his life long friends, Doreen, Vi and Maggie all of whom shared a big part of his heart. A special thanks to his grandson Nathan Blackstock who took such excellent care of him in his later years. No service as per request. A Celebration of his Life will take place in April 2013. Notice and invitations to follow. The family will greatly miss his generosity, charm and "smarty pants" attitude. May he rest in Peace and will always be in our hearts.
