David passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. David was born in Shanghai and moved with his family to Hong Kong during his childhood. He graduated from the Diocesan Boys' School in Hong Kong in 1961, followed by studies at the University of Colorado and the University of Paris-Sorbonne. In 1973, David, his wife, Cecilia, and their twin daughters, Sara and Lara, immigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver, BC. Early on, David was a fan of new technology, being the first on the block to own an Apple II computer, a microwave, a Betamax recorder and a Sony Walkman. He later practiced Buddhism and for the last 30 or more years, embraced its values of simplicity, modesty, and charity. David had a lifelong passion for literature and languages, and much later, to the bemusement of his children, Sudoku. He was a proud grandfather to his 4 grandchildren, Declan, Benjamin, Liam and Kate. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cecilia, who passed away in 1995. The family would like to thank the staff at Fair Haven Homes for their compassionate care and to all who supported and cared for David. As per David's wishes, a private interment will be held for family members only. A separate reception for friends and family is planned for Saturday, January 12th, 2013 to celebrate David's life with details to follow.
