PENSO, Donald Barrington
July 2, 1934 - February 8, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don after a brief illness. He leaves behind and will be forever missed by his wife Anne of 39 years, sisters Barb and Pat, daughter Janice (Laurn), grandchildren Destiny (George), Julie (Ken), Kyle, Bryan, great-grandchildren Teya, Carter, Lauryn. Don was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 and began his career in the window industry as a draftsman at Canadian Cretal in Toronto. When he moved to Vancouver he furthered his efforts in the window industry and it became his lifelong passion. In 1994 at the age of 59 he started his second career as a tool and die maker in the same industry. He was a reliable source of information in every aspect of design, production, and problem solving. Don was a character and could be a charmer. He loved his drink, he loved his swing era music, he loved his western and war movies. He was a very social person and loved to tell stories. But most of all he loved his family. Don remained unreformed, unrepentant, unapologetic for who he was. He was a great believer in "I did it my way." No funeral by request. The family will have an open house on Saturday, February 23 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Anyone who would like to join us for stories and snacks is welcome.
