BROWN, Doreen Margaret
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 25, 1925 Dot passed away peacefully on December 10, 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank Christopher in 1968, Agnes McKinnon in 1978, brother-in-law Emmeth Charles Phillips in 1982 and her loving sister Edith Marion Phillips on March 10, 2012. She will be sadly missed by her nephew Jim Locke (Rhonda), niece Irene Sideris, great nephews Scott Locke (Andrea), Kevin Locke (Leah), Spiros Sideris, great nieces Breanne Locke, Katrina Sideris, great great niece Amelia and nephew Harrison. Doreen moved to Vancouver in 1938 and graduated from King Edward High School. In 1944 at the age of 18 she started to work at the Vancouver Sun as an office clerk and moved to the classified counter where ads were taken with pen and paper. She remembered the introduction of typewriters to the department and eventually the progression of computers. After 44 years she retired in 1988 as the Classified Supervisor for the Vancouver Sun. She was an active member for 50 years in Beta Sigma Phi in Vancouver and enjoyed travelling to Mexico, Hawaii and England. The family wish to thank the staff at Fraserview Care Lodge for taking such loving care of Doreen in the past few years. A Graveside Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the 'Brookside' section.
