Gayle Patricia NEILSON

NEILSON, Gayle Patricia
It is with great sadness that Gayle's family and friends announce her passing on Sunday, October 28, 2012. Gayle died peacefully in her home on Pender Island after losing a courageous battle to cancer. Gayle was born in New Westminster on December 21, 1946. She is survived by her son Jordy and grandchildren Gareth, Chandler, Jenna and Hannah whom she loved dearly, and their mother Guin (Troy). She is also survived by her brother Terry Neilson (Janet) and many friends. After visiting Pender Island twelve years ago, she fell in love with the Island and the lifestyle it offered, moving there soon after. Animals were the passion of her life, which included horses, dogs cats and birds. Gayle often rescued homeless cats, giving them loving care and a wonderful home. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Royal Columbian Hospital, Saanich Peninsula Hospital, the Victoria Cancer Clinic and the Pender Island Medical Clinic. As well, a very special thank you to Peter Knight, a long-time friend of Gayle's, who spent the past 6 months providing Gayle with great care and support. Please join us to celebrate Gayle's life at the Ranch Pub & Grill on the grounds of the Maple Ridge Equi Sports Centre at 21973, 132 Avenue Maple Ridge on Sunday, November 18 from 2 - 4 p.m. There will also be a celebration of Gayle's life on Sunday, November 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Pender Island Community Hall.
