HANSSON, Harry Almar

Harry Almar Hansson passed away after a battle with mesothelioma on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in Surrey, B.C., at the age of 81. Harry will be loved and remembered forever by his wife Lil, son Jon (Carol) and son Chris (fiancée Mai). Harry was born in Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C., but lived in Surrey all his life. At the age of 16, in 1948, he graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School. Harry met and fell in love with his future wife in 1954, and they married at First Presbyterian Church in New Westminster on Aug. 13, 1956. He recently celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary. Harry devoted 43 years to working in the plywood department of the Fraser Mills in Coquitlam, B.C. After retiring, Harry enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, playing crib, renovating the house and doing crosswords with his wife. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Surrey Memorial Hospital and Laurel Place Hospice for their warmth, support and care. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Wednesday, November 7th, 2012, at 12 noon at the Arbor Chapel in Valley View, 14644 72nd Ave., Surrey, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society would be most appreciated.
