PAWLUK, Helen Marie (Hettel)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Helen on November 10, 2012, at the age of 82. Helen was born March 8, 1930, in Indian Head, SK. At age 16, she moved to B.C. where she met the love of her life, John. Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years John, son Danny, daughter Tracy Hunter (David). Special nieces Janice Clarke (spouse Bill, son Graydon), Lori Uselman (spouse Doug Lowry, son James, daughter Allyson) and many other relatives and close friends. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary Hettel and dear sister Margaret Uselman. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend to many. She was known for being fashionable, she loved to dance, was an avid bowler and bridge player. Helen worked at Vancouver General Hosp. in the payroll dep. until retiring at age 65. She loved her job and acquired many lifelong friends there. Helen enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her home and the family's weekend getaway at the Glen. She loved to travel with John as they toured to many global destinations over the years. Helen overcame many health issues throughout her life and always kept a strong and positive attitude. She was known to always have a smile on her face and enjoyed sharing in laughter with others. Mom, you will forever be in our hearts and never ever be forgotten. We love you and miss you so very much. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Killarney Community Centre at 6260 Killarney Street on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 3:00 p.m. in rm. 205. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Michael's Hospice. A special thank you to the staff at Burnaby General Hosp. Ward 3B and St. Michael's Hospice.
