March 13, 1931 - November 25, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, wonderful father, Gramps/Pops/Grandpa, brother and friend. He died peacefully on November 25, 2012, with his eldest daughter by his side, at the Rotary Hospice House in Richmond at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his loving family, wife Beryl, daughters Dawn, Gail and Mona; grandsons Alexander, Raymond, Evan, and Samuel; sisters Freda and Erna; brother Abe, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends as well as his dog Cosmo. Hugo worked at Huntting & Merrit Shingle Division for over 25 years. During his retirement he enjoyed working for the Teamsters in the film industry. A man of few but carefully chosen words, Hugo will be fondly remembered for his walks by the Fraser River or at the golf course, golf club in hand, with one of his dogs. A special thank you to all of the staff and volunteers at the Hospice who helped to make Hugo's last days comfortable. Donations to the Salvation Army or the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House would be appreciated. "Unostentatious simplicity" (no service) upon request. Hugo's ashes will be scattered in 2013.
