December 16, 1941 - April 15, 2013
Here's to Ian: husband, father, brother, son, engineer, Harvard MBA, entrepreneur, ship- builder, captain, programmer, adventurer, story- teller, pragmatist, idealist, visionary, rebel. He was never without an interesting idea. He helped those around him to see things "one level of abstraction higher" whether it was a test grade or a business deal, and took principle-based negotiation to the next level. He saw life differently and felt determined that others could see it too. On the day of his death there was sunshine, wind, rain, and thunder, an apt tribute to a life fully lived. There was no one else like him and he will be greatly missed. Predeceased by his parents Beatrice and John Campbell. Survived by his loving wife Joyce; children Heather (John), Robyn, Callum (Kristina); sister Pat (John); and grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (Osborn's), 11969 - 216th Street. Condolences may be sent to
