Jean Kathleen Thompson

Jean Kathleen Thompson May 11, 1927 - December 13, 2012 Our wonderful mother, Jean Thompson (nee Banks) passed away suddenly on December 13, 2012 at the age of 85. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.

Born in Edson, AB on May 11, 1927, Jean's family moved many times before eventually settling in Victoria. After graduating from Victoria High School she moved to Vancouver and joined Jericho Tennis Club, where she forged lifelong relationships and where she met our late father, Daryl Thompson.

'Jericho Jean' as she was known to many, lived life to the fullest - with zest, fun, kindness and a smile for everyone. She had a thirst for adventure and strove to keep physically and mentally active. Jean loved to walk, swim, cycle, play tennis and bridge, garden, entertain, travel, attend courses at UBC, sit in the sun, and dance whenever and wherever she could find a willing partner. As well, Jean volunteered her time generously with many organizations.

Jean has joined her soul mate, Daryl, and is survived by her four children - Nancy Thompson (Matthew Colclough), Chris Thompson (Sandra), Kathy Thompson (John Picken) and Caroline Thompson; and her beloved grandchildren - Daryl and Michael Thompson; Jamie, Megan, Ryan and Reid Picken; and Zoe Colclough. Chase, her four legged friend, misses her too.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Jericho Tennis Club, 3837 Point Grey Road. We invite you to bring a memory in the form of a note, photo or other to leave for her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MS Society of BC, Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon or to a charity of your choice.

"The world needs more Jean Thompsons. In the game of life,

she played exceptionally well and will be greatly missed".
