Trevor passed unexpectedly on October 15, 2015 with family members by his side. He leaves behind to grieve his wife of 63 years Gwyn, his two sons Bob (Lisa) and Bruce (Victor), two grandsons Lorne Michael (Niya) and Lynden, his three brothers Glen, Clare (Cathy) and Neal, his three sisters Margaret, Joanne and Pauline, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Max, his mother, Ethel, and his eldest son, Jim. Trevor (or J.T., as he was known by many family members and friends) was born in Cavan Township, Ontario and lived on the family farm in Omemee, Ontario until he moved to London, Ontario to complete his degree in Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He then moved to Vancouver where he met Gwyn and completed his internship and then a residency in general surgery at Vancouver General Hospital. He married Gwyn in 1952. After finishing his residency Trevor then accepted an attending surgeon position and worked at the VGH until his retirement in 1993. He held a number of surgical and medical administrative leadership positions at VGH, the Cancer Control Agency, and BC Health Association over the course of his career. He was also a Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. Trevor loved surgery and continued to work as a surgical assistant at local hospitals up until his 86th year. Trevor and Gwyn spent many happy years in retirement travelling, playing golf and bridge, and socializing with friends in Rancho Mirage, Vancouver and Qualicum Beach. The family would like to thank Trevor's physicians and specialists, especially his haematologist, Dr. Erica Peterson; the emergency team at VGH on the night of October 15; and his caregivers, Sush and Neha Raj, for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of his Life will take place in the Spring of 2016.
