Leander Austin "Len" MCCABE

May 11, 1925 - May 2, 2013With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle. His love will live in our hearts forever. Predeceased by father Leander, mother Kathleen, sister Phyllis. Survived by loving wife Marlene McCabe; children: Julie (Randy) Clelland, Len (Joyce) McCabe, Kathleen (Doug) Macdonell, Amber Anderson, Ron (Anjie) McCabe; grandchildren: Lee, Devon, Jessica, Ryan, Ben, Ian, Jordan, Marlena, Katie, Trevor, Ronnie, Austin; sister Jean Charters & nephew Speers of Belfast, N.Ireland. Len was born and raised in Belfast. He came to Edmonton in 1953 where he met & married Marlene. Together they devoted their lives to raising their 5 children. He was a dedicated family man & had a distinguished career as a police officer. He was Chief of Police for the City of Port Moody for the 17 years preceding his retirement in 1986. A service celebrating Len's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 Regan Ave, Coquitlam on Friday May 10 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Crossroads Hospice Society.
