Marcella Mackinnon

Anna, Marcella Mackinnon September 8, 1922 - January 31, 2013 Mackinnon, Marcella (nee Curran), 90, passed away peacefully after a brief illness.

In 1940 Marcella and her identical twin Ursula left their home town of Finch Ont. to spend the next 3 yrs in Nursing Training at Montreal General Hospital.

Marcella enjoyed being a Public Health Nurse in Alexandria Ont. before attending the University of Ottawa for her RN certificate, then working in Quebec. In 1954 she moved to Vancouver where she worked in Public Health for the city of Vancouver.

She married Vince in 1955 and quit work in 1956 to start her family: Anne(Brian) Roels, Jane(Kirk) Lubyk and John(Sandy) Mackinnon. Marcella returned to work in 1966 working at Fellburn Hospital in Burnaby specializing in geriatrics until she retired.

Grandmother to Craig and Andrea Roels, Jennifer(Ryan) Green, Ben & Max MacKinnon. Great-Grandmother to Calen, Gavin & Nolan Green. Sister to Ursula Thompson & Helen Curran, Predeceased by husband Vincent, parents Jennie & Hugh Curran, her siblings Bernice Reynolds, Jean MacDiarmid, Doreen O'Donnell, Walter, Jim, and Leo Curran.

Thank you to the staff at McKenney Creek Hospice for the care & support given during her last few days.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday Feb 8, 2013 @ 11:00 am at Holy Cross Parish 1450 Delta Ave, Burnaby BC.
