Mogens Bech-Hansen

Passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2012 with his loving family by his side. Born March 3, 1919 in Denmark on the island of Lolland, Mogens moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1957 with his wife and four children. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Mogens worked in the paper making industry for 25 years and in 1984, retired as plant engineer at the Bby Paperboard plant of Belkin Inc. Mogens was predeceased by his wife Inger (2003) of 60 years and is survived by their children Torben (Linda), Lise, Merete (Larry), and Flemming; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as close friend Maren and family members in Denmark. Mogens embraced Canada and B.C. especially, travelling with Inger to visit family and showing off his home province to visitors from Denmark. The family appreciated being able to care for their Dad at home and did so with the wonderful support received from Dr. J. Slater, Community Health nurses and their support team, and staff from Classic Caregivers. No Service by Mogens' request, but a wonderful Danish lunch and private family celebration was held in Mogens' honor. If desired, donations can be made in Mogens' memory to the Danish Lutheran Church of Vancouver, 6010 Kincaid Street, Burnaby, B.C., V5G 4N3.
