LEIGHTON, Robert George
On January 2, 2014 at 9 p.m., Leslie and his brother Scott lost their father to cancer. Margaret lost her son, Anne and Molly their brother, Linda lost her best friend and companion, Philip and Chris lost their brother-in-law. The many nieces and nephews along with their families, lost their beloved uncle and confidant. The grandchildren lost their mentor whose lessons were given with humour and love. Bob maintained a caring, helpful attitude to all he met. If it was broken he would fix it. He loved sports and music. He spent many holidays in his various RV's and loved campfires. He was an instructor of firearms in the army, an RCMP officer, a prison guard, a construction worker, a plasters helper, a drywaller, a home renovator. Many of these job skills carried on while he worked for the Bby. Fire Department from which he retired as Chief Training Officer. Affectionately called Stucco Bob, he helped many homeowners over the years. A man of principals, a man of determination he set goals daily, which played out even in his last days. A Celebration of Life will be held February 1, 2014 at 12pm to 4pm at the Firefighters Club located at 6515 Bonsor Avenue at Metrotown, Burnaby. To quote his favorite expression about Life "THINK ABOUT IT" and he meant it! A true Man's Man he will be missed! Donations to the Laurel Place Hospice located at 9688-137A Street, Surrey, B.C.
